Despite its regional status, employees of the "Wild Mary" took great pride in their company with extremely well-maintained equipment and rights-of-way.Īt the time of the C&O takeover, the B&O was dealing with chronic financial problems had the much more profitable Chessie not acquired our country's first common-carrier it was likely headed for bankruptcy. The WM often paralleled the B&O in many locations and handled considerable coal within the same regions although it never reached the many markets of its rival. In addition, it operated a southerly extension to Elkins, West Virginia and branches south of that town. The WM was essentially a much smaller version of the B&O, running between Baltimore and Connellsville, Pennsylvania via Cumberland, Maryland.

That same decade the B&O acquired control of the Western Maryland in 1968. This signaled the beginning of what later became the Chessie System. PhotosĪfter a drawn out battle with New York Central the Chesapeake & Ohio won control of the Baltimore & Ohio with the Interstate Commerce Commission formally approving the merger on December 31, 1962. However, many journalists, and even executives, were impressed by the new look that endures through today. In the early 1970s the trio unveiled a dazzling new paint scheme of blue, yellow, and vermilion with the Chessie the kitten’s silhouette overlaid in the Chessie " C."īy that time most railroads had lost interest in eye-catching designs with the cessation of privately-operated trains. Profits during a time when the industry was Standpoint the railroad was quite a moneymaker, thanks to the C&O's strong performance in coal the system earned handsome Its earliest beginnings trace back to the C&O's takeover of the B&O in the early 1960s, the latter also controlling the WM. The railroad itself was comprised of three principle subsidiaries theĬhesapeake & Ohio, Baltimore & Ohio, and Western Maryland. However, its legacy lives on thanks largely to its colorful and attractive livery. Anyway, yes there is intent to improve frame rates. The Chessie System as an independent corporate entity would last but a mereĮight years and in total survived barely a decade. Shadows? now that is an interesting question, was doing some tests in T:ANE trying various combinations of settings and I found that with everything on Normal settings apart from shadows there was very little difference in frame rates between normal high and ultra shadow settings, put everything else up to high and there is. Probably a good idea to at least wait and see what the result of the hotfix is. Is there intent to improve framerates with shadows? The Core i3 makes me a little nervous although it is 4th Generation Haswell. I have a Core i3 4160 Processor, Geforce GTX 960 and 8BG of RAM. Hmm, sounds like I should wait for it to be fixed up properly then? I am, however, NOT expressing a preference for either make here. I don't know why this should be but it seems most of the problems with frame rates (after installing the updates) seem to be experienced by Radeon users.

Well worth getting and persevering with IMHO.ĮDIT: It still seems to be a fact that Geforce graphics cards work better with T:ANE than Radeon. I'm no artist but the scenery can be crafted much more easily and impressively natural than in any previous version of Trainz. I love all of the new effects, and the look of the environments that you can create are the most realistic yet. Once you've gotten used to some of its little quirks, you will be loathe to go back to a previous version of Trainz.
Trainz cumberland to connellsville tane Patch#
So, let's see what we get when the patch and hotfix are put out on general release. Some, inevitably, report no improvement at all. However, this does not appear to be a blanket observation. Many people (who previously struggled) are reporting up to treble their usual frame rates with shadows and all of the new features turned on.
Trainz cumberland to connellsville tane software#
I have read some of the feedback on the latest beta for the forthcoming hotfix and patch and it sounds impressive - although I have declined the opportunity to beta-test the software myself. I'm fortunate that my computer is at the higher end of the specs but there are (rare) times in highly detailed areas where the frame rate does become irritating (although the addition of an extra 16GB of RAM seems to have mostly alleviated this problem.) I'm told framerate is being worked on as a priority and I hope there is a fix for everyone soon.
